Hello and welcome to Moonkitty.net, a Sailor Moon fansite dedicated to all incarnations of the series from the manga and anime to the musicals and live action tv series!
Thought I'd go for a bit of a different Sailor Moon music video this week. Am on a huge DiC vibe right now so thought I'd feature a video with the classic song My Only Love sung by Jennifer Cihi from the epic episode A Crystal Clear Destiny.
I like how this whole video actually summarises the episode the song appeared in and again I love the inclusion of the voices at several points. Really nice touch.
The Sailor Moon Roundup and Moonie Music Monday combine once again until my work schedule eases up a bit (late March).
I suppose the big news this week was the rumours of Sailor Moon returning to Latin America but as of this writing nothing has been confirmed though official parties are interested in bringing it back.
Thee-Lights.net has some fantastic scans worth checking out! Tuxedo Mirage baby!
A Fruitful Spring has some more PGSM reunion info! Great to see the cast are still friends!
Ayaka502 continues to translate Ayaka's blog for all the English speaking fans. Great work!
BSSMLA (a fantastic site by a great owner) is in the middle of a revision. Can't wait to see what happens!
The Official Site has updated with a new layout for March featuring a cool image of Moon and Mini Moon with braided hair! Actually not sure if I'd seen this image before. Very cool. They've also updated the image page and the character info page.
The Sailor Moon Abridged Movie is online and is pretty funny. Scary how well Sailor Mars' final line suits the scene. lol.
And finally the second Sailor Moon S DVD Box is up for pre order. And speaking of the boxes I just realised my review of the second box didn't upload properly! Will fix it tomorrow morning when I have more time!
Real life has really gotten in the way of my site plans recently and for that I really apologise.
I've been working full time six days a week and any free time I've had has been spent applying and interviewing for new jobs which hopefully will start next month.
For the next two weeks it's really going to hit the fan as one of the companies I work for will be making everyone work on the next two Sundays which means.... 14 days straight of work! Yay! I'll still be updating with any interesting and amazing Sailor Moon news and of course will try my hardest to post the Roundups and Moonie Music Mondays but will most likely combine the two features until late March when my time will free up more.
Now funnily enough, one of the job interviews I went to on Friday just happened to be literally across the road from the Hikawa Jinja that was the inspiration for Sailor Mars' shrine in the manga (different temples were used for the anime and live action versions)! I'd been here once before with Jay from Genvid but that was three or so years ago and I hadn't been since.
Out of curiosity I decided to check out the wish tags and see if there were any Sailor Moon fans who had visited the shrine recently. I didn't really expect to see anything Sailor Moon related but right on the top row were two tags with some amazing Sailor Moon artwork and messages in Japanese that basically read (I will punish you!). Here's the photo I took on my phone of them!
Pretty cool that Sailor Moon fans still visit the shrine on a regular basis!
Now here's your Sailor Moon music video spotlight! In kind of a musical mood right now so thought I would feature one of my favourite songs from the musicals featuring Yu Shirota and Marina, New Moonlight Romance.
I really hope the musicals come back for the 20th anniversary!
Now for the roundup! (busy! busy!)
There's a cool new Italian Sailor Moon poster here.
And finally all the new Sailor Moon CDs seem to be keeping all the same covers of the originals meaning they're just regular rereleases but still a Sailor Moon product release nevertheless. I will be picking up a few as they are pretty cheap and the only Sailor Moon CDs I have are musical, PGSM or NA Dub.
In site news I have updated the Sailor Moon Channel Layout Archive with February's layout. I'll also be getting around to regular site emails and tweets sometime this week I hope (if I have time). Keep sending in Moonie Mailbag questions! I WILL answer them whenever I get the chance. If you haven't been answered yet, don't worry! You WILL be!
That's about it for now! Comment below, follow on Twitter and have a great week!
To save me posting twice within 12 hours of each post I've decided to combine the Sailor Moon Roundup and Moonie Music Monday this week into one post.
Let's start with the music video spotlight! After last week's crazy video I'm getting back into the Glee vibe of things with a rather fun music video to No Air. Unlike the previous No Air video this one is actually sung by the Glee Cast and is simply amazing.
I love the use of dialogue from the anime and it's also interesting how (while it's not) the song sounds like it could be sung by Terri Hawkes (Sailor Moon's voice actress in these clips). The voices are a pretty good match!
Anyway give it a watch and let me know what you think!
In site news I've been thrown for a bit of a loop with Blogger's decision to discontinue FTP publishing. 90% sure I'm going to say goodbye to them and convert to Wordpress. It's just really annoying and frankly it's p*&%ing me off.
On a happier note I've created a new Sailor Moon image gallery with all the new images that have been released lately.
There's this crazy on YouTube called "Carameldansen" which features random characters doing the same dance against music.
They're all very cute and normally offer a humourous way to see characters that wouldn't normally be dancing.
A few weeks ago a follower on twitter sent me this link and I faved the video as soon as I saw it!
Not only is Moon and Mini Moon well drawn but the artist has thrown in transformations into the mix to include all their anime forms AND several civilian costumes!
Hope you like it as much as I do!
p.s. You've probably noticed I've been doing some layout updates here and there this weekend to make the site a little more streamlined. Included with this update was a a completely new footer for the site. Can you find the special Moonie Easter Egg? It offers a little bit of an extra Moonie Music joy for those who find it!
Continuing with the Glee theme, this time with a Sailor Moon music video set to a version of a song from the actual show, Defying Gravity!
I love this song and was pretty impressed with this music video (despite the annoying unnecessary opening "credits" which almost made me decide to exclude it).
Seriously I don't think since Sailor Moon that there's been a show that I've been so into as much as Glee.
I absolutely love the music on that show and bought a few songs on iTunes during the holidays but then one of my friends bought me both soundtrack CDs for Christmas! How good is that!
I'm on such a Glee high right now that I've decided to feature a few videos with songs from the show over the next few weeks.
This week I wanted to spotlight a Sailor Moon music video to the Glee Cast version of No Air but while searching for a quality music video to this song I became really frustrated! So many fan music videos nowadays feature ridiculously long pre-movie credits and then useless long credits at the end as well. If you're a music video maker and you're reading this please stop putting credits before music videos. If you feel you have to then put it at the end. I thought someone's credits were actually the music video they were going on for so long!
Anyway all the Glee Cast videos had annoying pre-video credits buuutttt I did find this amazing version of the song sung by Jordan Sparks. Love the editing in this video! Really nice and really emotional! Enjoy! Inspired by Glee. hehe
p.s. Spacing out updates. DVD caps, etc coming tomorrow morning. Let's focus on the music today.
Hey there everyone! Before I get to the competition you should really check out this short music video that combines two of my favourite animes, Sailor Moon and Card Captors (or Card Captor Sakura).
Some very cool effects used that I hadn't seen before in a fan video.
Now as some of your may have heard I'm going to be holding a competition to win a rare Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon CD and Book set. It's in mint condition and never been opened and pretty hard to come across in Japan right now.
The competition's going to be very easy and very fun and will be held on Twitter! So if you haven't signed up with Twitter yet, this is the time to do so. Seriously only takes 30 seconds, is free and will really change the way you interact on the web and to an extent in real life!
Was surfing around YouTube tonight and came across some fantastic fans singing English versions of the Japanese Sailor Moon theme songs. Some of them were so good I just had to feature them in the Moonie Music Monday this week.
Happy Monday! I was actually searching for a different music video when I found this one. I've never ever seen a Sailor Moon music video dedicated solely to Sailor Neptune before. The character ALWAYS seems to be paired with Sailor Uranus in everything!
This one has clips from (what looks like) her every appearance and is set to the relevant Korean song by BoA, Atlantis Princess. Enjoy!
In site news, I've been working on a few things. Right now though you can check out all the new title graphics in the PURPLE pages (i.e, Website Info) and the updated Recommended Links page.
Got another big treat for you this week! Moonkitty.net's 10th Anniversary surprises continue this week with an exclusive interview with the voice actor of Alan (from the Doom Tree) and Tuxedo Mask, Vincent Corazza!
It was such an honor interviewing Vincent Corazza who had some very interesting things to say when asked about being a voice actor and what it was like working on the series during it's original run, the production of the movies and finally with S and Supers. Make sure you give it a read!
Because of this great news I've decided to dedicate this week's Moonie Music Monday to Tuxedo Mask with this hilarious music video to the song "Spy Hard" by Weird Al Yankovic.
My favourite Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon have always been Yu Shirota and Marina Kuroki and I thought I had seen all of their clips but I just came across this clip on Youtube from a fan appreciation event during the 2nd Stage Musicals.
It's the two of them performing live on stage to a song originally sung by the late Miyuki Kanbe.
I found it really touching and a nice change of pace for the Moonie Music Mondays. Enjoy!
p.s. BIG event happening tomorrow! Check back soon!
Right now the main page is done and I have episode summaries for the first six episodes which covers the entire Nehelenia arc! Each guide has been fully screen-capped for your enjoyment.
I'll be adding to this and finishing off the SuperS guide bit by bit over the next months and looking forward to having the anime guide finished by Christmas!
I'm probably going back to work tomorrow but I've set aside a few hours to answer all those Moonie Mailbag questions that have been piling up in my inbox.
I'll also be replying to site emails, so if you've emailed me sometime since 1999, look forward to your response. ;)
Anyway now that I'm done with Nehelenia I thought it would be suiting to feature a Nehelenia music video this Moonie Music Monday. Thank God I managed to find a good one! :D
Pretty soon I'll be starting on the Sailor Moon Sailor Stars Episode Guide so thought I'd get in the mood with a Sailor Stars music video!
Finding a quality one was actually pretty difficult but man was the search worth it!
This video has to be one of the best ones I've seen in a long time. Some superb editing with some great clips and a very cool song (turn up the volume!). Hope you like it as much as I did! Favourite this one!
WARNING: This music video has some pretty big spoilers from the final season of the Sailor Moon anime. If you haven't watched those episodes yet, I recommend bookmarking this and watching it after you've watched this amazing season.
Sorry for the lateness if you're anywhere in Australasia but for those of you on the other side of the globe it should still be Monday so I'm only late for 50% of you. ;)
Just came across this cool high energy Sailor Moon music video set to the song, We Are W.I.T.C.H. It has a some great footage and nice fast editing. The video quality isn't the best but the song and directing more than makes up for it. Enjoy!
Hey guys! Happy Monday! First I thought I'd share a rather humorous video I just found that mixes the audio from a SuperS episode with the live action show. Pretty well timed and I love the Beryl shots. lol!
Now for the real music video spotlight! I'd never heard Rise before and I love it! It mixes really well with the Sailor Moon anime and the maker used a pretty wide selection of scenes for this video.
Sorry for the later than usual news roundup this week! As followers of my Twitter account will know, life just got in the way this week and I was simply too exhausted to compose the Roundup post which requires a lot of energy and time.
Kind of a good thing I waited though, as this morning there's some HUGE Sailor Moon news from Japan! Let's get right into it!
This post over on the Genvid forums alerted everyone to the fantastic news that there will be some new Sailor Moon DVD releases in Japan!
The first DVD Box Set contains episodes 1 - 24 from the first season and is due for release this year in December! (Just in time for Christmas!)
Just yesterday I uploaded heaps of new Sailor Moon avatars (or icons). Almost over 100! You can find the new anime ones here and here as well as some cool manga inspired ones here. These are perfect for Twitter or discussion forums! Just don't place them on your own site! ;)
Some other big news this past week which I posted ASAP on Twitter was the closing down of ADV who was involved in the release of several Sailor Moon VHS and DVDs. Guess we can now completely rule them out of any Sailor Moon rerelease!
Finally, the Sailor Stars Dub has another fantastic preview online that looks (as usual) REALLY GOOD! Someone hire these guys to do the official Stars dub!
And now to finish on a funny note, I present this week's Moonie Music Monday Sailor Moon music video! LOL!
I love the movie Robin Hood - Men in Tights! It's definitely one of the funniest movies ever made and if you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend you to check it out.
Well last week I mentioned that I was looking for a different kind of video but found last week's video instead.
My original aim was to feature a Sailor Moon music video using Tomb Raider music! And I found one!
It's by the same artist as last week's video, TSFWebmaster who makes some fantastic quality music videos. Make sure to check out his channel for more!
Note: I've enabled HD playback on this clip. Wait for the whole video to load before playing for best playback. If it's still jittery click on the "HD" button on the clip for the lower res option.
I was actually searching for something different when I came across this music video but I was so impressed by the image quality, the selection of footage and the song (which I had never heard before), I scrapped my original video and chose this one!
With all this talk about the anime lately it's easy to forget about the other great versions of Sailor Moon such as the live action version which is why this week I've decided to feature a Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon music video!
This one is inspired by the epic PGSM Final Act against the beautiful song, Apologise by Timbaland featuring One Republic. This is the first time I've heard this song and love it!
The video has some very nice editing and doesn't rely on simply looping the transformations and attacks like all the other Sailor Moon videos out there. In fact I don't think it uses ANY stock footage at all!
While searching around for a Sailor Moon music video set to You're Just My Love from the Japanese version of the anime I came across this video that features a Spanish Fandub's version of the song. The female singer, Anais Joseph-Monrose sings the song very well and is a perfect match for the original Japanese version. The male voice though, sung by Luis Silerio completely blew me away. Not only does he match the original song but he excels in several places, making this version pretty much an equal to the original and surpassing it in many ways!
I've wondered for a while how some of the Sailor Moon songs would sound sung by men and this is a great example of the potential some of the songs have!
Was feeling a bit off yesterday and couldn't post. Thanks for all the get well messages! Feeling a lot better now and have your Moonie Music Monday video!
Check out this great video to a remix of Listen to Your Heart. Some great edits here with the music changes. Well worth a look (plus I LOVE this song!)
Bit of a late Moonie Music Monday but wanted to finish some site updates to post along with this amazing performance!
English speaking Sailor Moon Musical fan productions beware! These German fans will really show you how it's done!
Great singing, choreography and an inspired decision to have the Outers in their manga planetary princess dresses! Brilliant!!!
And now that you've picked your jaw off the floor, here are some cool site updates!
I've been amazed at the response to the Moonie Mailbag! A lot of people have been sending in questions this week and some of them are pretty good questions too!
I'll be answering a few more as the day goes on so you may see a few empty pages for some questions but they should only be like that for an hour or so.
Also today I've uploaded a very interesting interview with the owner of Chibi Land and MoonSticks, Chibi Jen! Make sure to give it a read.
Well, it's that time of year again when I feel like watching the live action Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon again! So I went YouTubing (yes, that's a word!) for a PGSM music video and watched a lot that had footage from the show with popular Top 10 chart songs but then I found this one that actually used the opening theme song! The editing isn't that fancy and there are the occasional subtitle but the clips shown really do capture the mood of the more happy episodes of the series and left me with a very satisfied feeling after it had finished. Enjoy.
On a side note, what's with all the 5 minute music videos that feature one minute "opening intros" and two minute "credits"???
I've been listening to a lot of the English Sailor Moon songs lately and realised I really liked "Oh, Starry Night" so decided to find a good Sailor Moon music vide of it. I did! And here it is!
I'm so hyped up for Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen that I've got Transformers crazy! Ripped out my DVD of the original animated Transformers Movie and am now on a real Stan Bush high.
Coincidentally the guy who sang The Touch and Dare in Transformers also sang She's Got the Power in this episode of Sailor Moon R! Pretty cool connection considering how much both of those shows have influenced my life!
This week's Sailor Moon music video features one of my favourite couples in Sailor Moon, Chibi Usa / Rini and Helios / Pegasus!
Conducted a deliberate search to find a video of these two and found this one which is idealy set to Watashi Tachi ni Naritakute (aka Baby Baby Love). Hope you like it as much as I do.
I've also gotten off my bum and uploaded all the gifts & pressies my wonderful online friends have sent me! While I read my email on a daily basis I always put off replying until the last possible second. I'm embarrassed to admit that I hadn't uploaded any of these since December!!! REALLY SORRY EVERYONE! Getting things like this really do make my day. Never feel unappreciated!!! Thank you Usagi, Noa and Fallen Angel Ceres! If somehow I've lost a card, please hit me over the head and let me know.
Also, using Google Tools, I'm continually finding the Sailor Moon Wallpapers to be the most popular section on Moonkitty.net so have cleaned up all the pages for less scrolling and added some great Sailor Stars widescreen wallpapers to the collection. Really happy with them and am even using the Eternal Sailor Moon / Galaxia one on my own desktop right now.
Finally, I've finally updated my links page starting with credits and thanks to all the sites and people that have helped me out over the past 10 years. I know I've missed some people. If I have, please let me know.
Now, back to the episode guides and dvd reviews.... and my secret project!!!
