PGSM Tamborine!

Today, we're going to look at (what I think) the neatest of the PGSM toys. The sailor "Tamborine".

What it looks like: Happily enough, the Tamborine actually LOOKS like the one in the show! It comes with 4 different senshi hearts, that you interchange with the tamborine as you wish. Making it possible to switch from Venus one day, to Mars another! The box is adorable, and looks alot like the other PGSM boxes. The gold star portions are solid plastic though, which, doesn't take away too much from the piece. And the colors are vibrant too! All around, a beautiful piece.

What it does: Plug those hearts in, because you're going for one heck of a senshi ride!! By slamming the tamborine JUST like in the show, you end up with those stars lighting up, and it playing some AWESOME attack music!! Play it again, and you hear the tamborine noise! Now you can REALLY fight those youma just like in the show!! And you'd think that'd be all, right? Seriously, interchange the hearts, and by some miracle, the tamborine recognizes which senshi is in there, and will play THAT senshi's attack!! So no more push button, same two sound effects! Sailor Moon has FINALLY gotten advanced!

Fun Factor: All in all, this piece is absolutely a gag to play with! It's large enough to really grasp on, and take a hold of to have fun! And because of the technological advancement from other Sailor Moon toys, it's definitely going to be a serious collectable! I definitely give this one a 10 out of 10! It's SO much fun, and so interesting spending your time trying to figure out where the memory chip is, or sensor for such a remarkable, and light, toy.

You can look to spend about $50-$120 for this item, only because of it's scarcity. Ebay tends to have a gem now and again, and some anime shops still seem to have some lingering around too. Since it's fairly new yet, finding it in a box, shouldn't be too difficult. It's definitely one of those fun toys for a wide range of Sailor Moon fans. It works great for Cosplay, and is surely something to keep on hand as a collectable.

Next week, PGSM's "Lunatia S" Phone.
See ya then!!

Does anyone recognize this senshi?

There's yet another art thief out there. He's taken at least one image from a friend of mine (Laurel, author of Sailor Moon Dark http://www.dementedstuff.com/smd/smdenter.html ) and an image of a Sailor Vulcan. I don't know whose Sailor Vulcan it is but the stolen image is placed up on http://www.matmice.com/home/supersailorvulcan/ The art style is familiar to me, but I just can't seem to place who it is... If anyone recognizes that Sailor Vulcan, could someone please let the senshi's owner know? The owner should know that someone's taking their senshi/art....

Not much of an update...

Sailor Christmas (the Holiday Senshi) was featured twice in Castle of Invented Senshi's advent calender/splash page. For those who haven't visited the Castle, I would recommend a visit. I've also placed both images that featured Sailor Christmas in the Gifts page (in Multimedia).

In other news, the Fifty-Five Fiction contest over at Book Of Otaku Senshi is still going on...and only has one single entry since the contest started a few months ago...It's things like this (next to no entries) that remind me why I just about never hold contests... This one will stay up for just about a month more before I decide whether to just close it or keep it going.

Sailor Moon Getting MORE Popular?!?

Anime News Network has just reported that Sailor Moon was number 38 this year in searchable words/phrases on the Lycos search engine! Pretty good considering Sailor Moon was number 56 last year!

Sailor Moon beat out Naruto AND Yu-Gi-Oh but lost to Dragonball, Pokemon and Final Fantasy ammong others.

Still, looks like Sailor Moon is picking up again!

Winx

Have seen this American cartoon airing in Japan and caught an ep in English this morning on Toasted TV in Australia at 8am this morning. Winx is very similar to Sailor Moon in several ways, from the main characters, to the powers, to the music (very similar in style to the dub tunes which I liked) and the storylines.

Very good quality animation and several voice actors from other English anime productions. If you're tired of Sailor Moon, give Winx a try. Well worth a look.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Toys!

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Nakayosi Talking Luna

Today we're going to take a look at a few of the newest Sailor Moon toys to hit the market. The Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon toys. The first toy we're going to look at, is possibly the most EXPENSIVE PGSM toy, the Nakayosi Talking Luna.

What it looks like: Well, we noticed now, in PGSM that Luna really got a make-over. Her cresent moon is now much more shiney than we all remember, her eyes are much larger, and more vibrant than they used to be. Not to mention, they're BLUE, and she has lashes! And she's got a nifty little hanging moon on her beautiful little yellow collar. So, we have a few references to the anime with her. Her nose is hard plastic, and her mouth is sort of stitched on there. But I think the most interesting thing about this, is her ears, and tail. Most DEFINITELY a different color, and type of fabric. They are actually a pile type of fur, lighter in color then the rest of the body, and has silver pile threads littered throughout them. The inner ears are pink satin like material. The fur on the body is actually QUITE soft, and very cuddly. The box is absolutely stunning. Pink, with all your typical writings on it, and a cute little picture of Sailor Luna in the front.

What it does: Well, when you press the tip of her tail, pat her atop the head, or press her paws, you're going to get a good lot of different sayings. They're quite random, and sometimes you'll get the same saying 3 times in a row. Although, on a good note, all of her sayings actually have EMOTION in them, and are in the same voice as the show!

How much it costs: Now, since this item has been out for a spell, and it's becoming increasingly more hard to find, the price on this little kitty has gone up significantly. Right now, you can look at spending anywhere from $40.00 to a whopping $100 for this little number. It all depends on where you go. In my opinion? If you're going to own ONE plush Anime toy, THIS is the one. It's remarkably soft, large enough to really cuddle, and absolutely adorable.

All in all, the fun factor for this toy is an easy 10 out of 10. It's soft, cuddly, loveable, adorable, and is easily going to be a collectable in NO time. If you're thinking about getting this one, don't think any further. If you love plush toys, and think Luna is your main squeeze, then rest at ease, and go ahead and give her one! You won't be sorry!

Next time we'll take a look at the Princess Moon Harp/Sword

"Mad About Mango" A Fanlisting to The Body Shop's Mango Line

I'll admit a little off topic, but I just wanted to plug my new "Mad About Mango" A Fanlisting to The Body Shop's Mango Line that I just completed! I think it looks great and if you're a fan of The Body Shop, or their Mango line, come on over and add your name to the list!

In site news, I'm off to Australia tonight, so news may be a bit slow, but I'll still be making the occassional update.

Merry Christmas!

Sailor Stars Eternal Moon Compact (A-teikuru)

The Eternal Moon Compact

What it looks like: Here we have a lovely piece of Sailor Moon work once more. The box is absolutely stunning, far above the rest of the boxes that our typical compacts have come in. And the item itself is beautiful! Inside, we have the compact, which is of course, in the shape of a heart. The top has a nice little top, sort of like the top of the grail in past transformations. It does have the gold beads on the sides, with wings coming out of them, towards the bottom. They have a gorgeous like, sticker on them, that has it fading from yellow, to dark blue. Accenting it beautifully. Then we have the crescent moon at the bottom, with stickers all around the heart, in all of the senshi's colors. To hold in all it's glory, there is a yellow dome like, in the center of this all, which is transparent to get a good view of the star shaped crystal button in the center. At which, you can see more beautiful gold to red, and gold to green, fadings around it. It's absolutely stunning. And to keep this baby on, is a golden chain, hooked to the top.

What it sounds like: And here's where it all tumbles down hill. In previous versions of the locket, we had beautiful music playing. To substitute the beautiful music, by pressing a white button on the inside of the locket, you're going to hear a fast paced beeping, as it goes, it slows down to almost a complete stop. But not before a little rhythmic beep. And then, all is silent. By far, the worst sound any Sailor Moon toy has made to date.

What it does: As it beeps, that star in the center blinks in time with each beep. And when it slows, it continued to flash for a good few seconds more.

What it Costs: For this item, in box, I payed about $88.00 for it. You can expect to pay anywhere from $50.00 to about $125.00 for this item, whether it be in, or out of box. Stars toys are ALWAYS hard to come by when it comes to Cosplay items.

All in all, the fun factor for this toy, was given a good 7 out of 10. It's awesome for cosplay, and beautiful as an item all in itself!! Truly, something to really enjoy as a part of your collection. It would surely impress any collector.

Next week, we'll be taking a good look at some of the newer PGSM toys!

More Keiko Kitagawa Fast and the Furious 3 News!

Thanks to Minako-Mars and Iridium Yusuke who posted on the Shingetsu Forums about these two articles concerning Keiko Kitagawa's new movie, Fast and the Furious 3; Tokyo Drift.

The first, mentions that she was in shock when she heard that she won the audition as apparently a lot of famous actresses were up for the part of THE beauty who follows one of the main characters and that her character's name is "Natalie".

The second, is almost the exact same article. Go figure.

Both are in Japanese so you may have to use Google's translator program to read it. Neither article mentions Sailor Moon.

Public Interview with Takeuchi Naoko

Just surfed across this old Public Interview with Takeuchi Naoko and found it a very interesting read. Answers a LOT of questions about Uranus and Neptune, the starlights and more. Well worth a read!

Sailor Moon Ultimate Wand (Tiaru Set)

Alright, well, it's my first official posting on a few items, that I know a lot of people are looking to obtain this holiday season, as far as "Sailor Moon Toys" are concerned. (How do I know? Because people keep asking if I'll sell mine.)

This week, We're going to look at the Ultimate Wand. Vintage, 1997.

Holy Moon Chalice - Visually attractive, this item truly has the most flare of the 3. This item actually makes three different sounds! Along with the sounds, it does still retain the typical "lights up" value that Sailor Moon toys are best known for. In this case, the star in the center of the item lights up with every press of the tiny round buttons below it. The wings are beautiful. The paint is metallic, very nice. The item comes apart, far too easily though. The box is very attractive. If you can find it. My opinion? Excellent toy, and a MUST have for any Sailor Moon fan!! I personally bought mine off EBAY this year, for $150.00, Mint in BOX. If you're looking to obtain this item in a box, be sure to shell out anywhere from $100-$200.00 for it!

Eternal Tiaru - Here we have another typical wand from Sailor Moon. With metallic paint, and your average plastic. And then, just to add in a bit of 'flare', Bandai decided to add 2 sounds, with a dial making it speed up the sound, or slow it down. Of course, this item does light up as well. My opinion? Nice toy, nothing really spectacular about it. Might be nice for cosplay, and for making the Ultimate wand. Aside from that, it's "fun factor" is about a 5, according to my 5 year old. ^.^; I actually paid $88.00 for mine, in box. I would expect to shell out anywhere from $50 to $100 for one in box, and sometimes out. The Sailor Moon World one will go for considerably less.

Power Tiaru - The most nonesensical (is that a word?) toy Sailor Moon came out with. A marketing trick to get kids to buy this item, to make the 'ultimate wand'. This is one of the rarest of the three, mainly because it was one of the least popular of the 3. It makes NO sound, no lights, nothing. You just take it apart to make the ultimate wand. And in turn you end up with a pink wand, with a character on the top. Fun Factor? My daughter says a 2. If you're looking to obtain the ultimate wand, you're going to need this one. The only GOOD thing about this one, is the cute little PVC figure at the top. I paid $90 for this item OUT of box. You're likely going to pay a considerable amount MORE if you'd like it IN box.

Base of this all? While the Ultimate wand is gorgeous to look at, it's definitely not for cosplay purposes. The means of attaching them all together is FAR too flimsy and heavy, to withstand any real playing with. The paint tends to chip incredibly easily with any kind of rubbing. It's overall fun value is about a 2. Collectors value, is definitely a 10. Be ready to foot out a good $250-$400 for the lot though.

Next week, we'll look at the Eternal Compact! See ya then~!
