Jap.50 "Usagi is in Danger! The Tiara Doesn't Work"
In Anne and Alan's apartment, the two aliens are in a panic as they realise that their Doom Tree is dying. Anne panics and tells Alan that if the Doom Tree dies, they die!
They both leave the Doom Tree room and relax in their lounge room. Alan shows Anne an advert for a new virtual reality game centre that's opened up in town. They both agree that it'd be a great place to gather energy from unsuspecting humans.
Meanwhile, Serena has decided to check out the new game centre with Luna. Coincidentally, Darien is also there... alone. Serena realises that he's still available and she still has a chance to win him back and chases after him.
Elsewhere, a game centre staff member has confronted Alan about trying to sneak into the building. Alan simply looks him in the eye and bombards him with hypnotic waves which place the staff member into a trance.
Behind him, Anne is being harassed by a jerk who's trying to get her to go out with him. Darien sees this and scares the guy away. Anne then jumps all over Darien and thanks him. Serena sees this and also walks up to them as does Alan. Eventually all four end up going in to the virtual reality game centre as a group.
Ironically, Serena's father and brother, Sammy are also in the game centre and are in the group in front of them. Serena is annoyed as her one chance to be with Darien is completely ruined by her family's presence.
Eventually Serena's group is separated from Sammy and her father (though her father keeps humorously checking on her from afar) and her, Darien, Alan and Anne begin to enjoy shooting at virtual monsters. Alan proves that he's great with a gun as does Darien. Anne also shows some considerable skill.
Darien and Serena then pair up and run through the next to levels by themselves. Serena begins to fantasise about this reminding her of when they used to fight together as Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask. The Moonlight Knight then appears in her fantasy holding her other hand but in reality it's her brother, Sammy who tells her and Darien that their father is in trouble and a real monster has been attacking everyone. Sammy takes Darien with him and tells Serena to stay where she is because she's a girl.
Serena, furious at this follows them anyway and transforms into Sailor Moon.
Outside, Amy, Raye, Lita and Mina are all waiting in line to come in but have been told that there's a long wait due to the centre's popularity.
Back inside, Serena's father is battling with the Cardian, Nacrid with a fire extinguisher. Eventually it proves to be no good and the Cardian moves in to take his energy. Sammy and Darien then arrive and try to save him but all three are eventually caught in the Cardian's long tentacles.
Sailor Moon then arrives and uses Moon Tiara Magic but it fails in mid-air and falls to the ground. Sailor Moon is in a panic and doesn't know what to do!
Luckily the Moonlight Knight arrives and beats off the Cardian... but wait... Darien is also there! Darien isn't the Moonlight Knight!
Sailor Venus, Mercury, Mars and Mercury then show up. Sailor Moon tells them that her tiara doesn't work any more. Sailor Venus comforts her and tells her that it might work again and that she shouldn't panic. Sailor Venus and Sailor Jupiter then attack the Cardian with a Venus Crescent Beam Smash and Jupiter Thunder Crash combo attack which destroys the Cardian.
That night as Serena's mother treats her father and Sammy's wounds Serena begins to cry as she has no idea what's going on now. She was so sure that Darien was the Moonlight Knight but now she's not so sure. Luna tells her that she has to believe that everything will turn out well in the end. She has to.
Monster of the Day
The Cardian Nacrid seemed to be a rather typical Cardian with energy draining powers and super long tentacles that it could extend and use to capture people with.
Surprisingly it was defeated not by Sailor Moon but by a Venus Crescent Beam Smash and Jupiter Thunder Crash combo attack.
Interesting Facts
Funnily enough, one of the virtual monsters in the game centre was one of the Seven Rainbow Crystal Warriors from the first season episode, The Power of Friendship!
