Welcome to the main page for Fan Art Friday, the weekly Sailor Moon fan art competition!

Each week, a Sailor Moon character will be chosen and fans will have until the coming Friday to submit their artistic interpretation of that week's theme! The character will be revealed via the Moonkitty.net Twitter account, so make sure to follow that to be notified. The winner and any specific competition details will also be revealed there. See bottom of page for rules and information on how to enter each week.

Week 15's theme is: Moon Kingdom!!! Any artwork relating to the Moon Kingdom and characters from that time period.

Fan Art Friday Rules

  • As a general rule, any form of the week's character will be accepted. So if the week's character is Sailor Mars, entrants could submit artwork of the character in her Sailor Mars form, in her shrine maiden form or in her school uniform, in any of her powered up forms, or even in her Princess Mars form. Any exceptions will be specified via Twitter.
  • The artwork may be new or old but it must be drawn by the entrant. Anyone caught submitting someone else's artwork will be blocked.
  • The submission guidelines must be followed completely. I may not have the time to follow up and ask for missing details.
  • Absolutely no nudity or sexual imagery will be allowed. No exceptions.
  • I understand the logic behind watermarks and artist labels but there is a fine line between copyright protection and shameless advertising. If you are adamant about including a watermark, make sure it's small, less than 20% transparency, and is situated near a corner of the artwork (See the Sailor Moon anime episode quotes/memes in the right-side navigation menu on this site for an example). Remember that your name and a link to your website will be included directly under your artwork on Moonkitty.net, so credit will be given. Also keep in mind that blatant watermarks/labels detract from your overall artistic vision and the viewer should be focusing on what you created, not a warning or promotional text. An artistic signature of your name on the artwork is 100% fine as it almost becomes a part of the artwork itself if done with a pen or paintbrush. Why not sign your signature and include your Twitter handle in it? Much classier, and less obvious, than a watermark.
  • By enterying this competition, you agree to let your image be displayed on Moonkitty.net and shared on a variety of social media platforms.
  • Five entries will be chosen as the Top 5. One of these will be the overall winner. All will be chosen on a range of factors such as artistic skill, energy, originality, and overall enthusiasm.
  • Fan Art Friday is open to all ages but entrants under the age of 18 must ask their parents' or guardians' permission before submitting. This is a good habit that I would like to encourage to promote safety online. It's also an opportunity to share with your parents your artwork and what sort of website's you're into.
  • Due to the complex legalities of giving away physical prizes in competitions, any prizes given will be digital codes for services such as Crunchyroll or Xbox, etc. Prizes will depend on availability.
  • Have fun!

    How to Enter

  • The entire entry must be submitted in one tweet.
  • After the week's character is announced, attach a high res copy of your image to a tweet, @ mention @moonkittynet, use the hashtag #FanArtFriday so I know it's for the competition, and type your name. If you have a website or DeviantArt profile you'd like to promote, add that to your tweet too but choose just one website address. Note, I will not link to sites or online stores selling bootleg/unauthorised Sailor Moon products.
