In 1999 Naoko Takeuchi released her 6th artbook, The Materials Collection,
the second half of which included an exclusive new Sailormoon manga story! There were several things that were strange about this;

For one, none of the previous artbooks had included a manga story in them. They all had pretty much included one page, profile style pictures and sketches of Sailormoon characters and on some occassions, pictures created by other artists.

Secondly, before this release everyone had thought that the story that was Sailormoon had ended with #20 of the manga series with the SailorStars arc. The anime had also recently finished with it's fifth season, SailorStars. The manga story included in the artbook, however did not take place in continuity with the Sailormoon everyone had grown used to. It was entitled; Parallel Sailormoon and was suprisingly set in a parallel reality to that which the original story had been set. In this new reality all the Inner Soldiers had grown up and had had one child each, Setsuna (Trista) worked at the school as the school nurse, Michiru (Michelle) and Haruka (Amara) were still together, Chibi Usa (Rini) (Note: She now wears glasses!). and Hotaru were a few years older, still friends and going to high school and Usagi (Serena) had had another child, Kousagi, the main character. There is a lot of debate, online as to who was born first, Kousagi or Chibi Usa (Rini). The Parallel Sailormoon manga is set in normal Tokyo, not the futuristic Crystal Tokyo where Chibi Usa (Rini) was born so it's assumed that Chibi Usa (Rini) had come back to live in the present at an age older than we had previously seen. Logically one could now come to the conclusion that Kousagi was born first in the timeline then Chibi Usa (Rini) would be before she came back to live in our present. Of course you can toss this whole theory out the window if Kousagi came from the future as well in which case we know that she would most likely have been born after Chibi Usa (Rini) in the future! However there is nothing suggesting this so for the sake of this discussion (which really has nothing to do with Pink Kitty, which we'll get to in a second) we'll say that Kousagi was born first.

Something I feel I should mention is that the Parallel Sailormoon manga was a fun story and was not meant to be analysed. It is obvious from the get go that fun is all the reader should get out of it as well as a good time. There are many story flaws, one being the contradiction to the fact made in the ongoing Sailormoon manga that states that the queen can only have one child. So unless Kousagi was adopted, well, you can see where I'm going. Parallel Sailormoon is set in a fun parallel world and it is obvious that the rules used in this world are not the same as the ones that we are used to.
