Hello and welcome to Moonkitty.net, a Sailor Moon fansite dedicated to all incarnations of the series from the manga and anime to the musicals and live action tv series!
After some energy gathering on Twitter I've gathered enough willpower to update the site and post this week's Sailor Moon Roundup.
I may have the flu, but that won't keep me down for long (sure kept me down yesterday though!)
First up you've probably noticed the new image and links to the left of this post (if you're reading this on the site that is). Thought it was needed as the 20th Anniversary Announcement happened a while ago and I don't want Moonies forgetting about it! It'll also make it easy for people looking for the official site link and links to where to buy the new Sailor Moon Box Sets online. (Amazon.jp is my No.1 choice in case you were wondering where I'm getting mine from)
Next I've created over 50 new Sailor Moon anime avatars / icons for your use. I've seen a few people using my icons in forums recently and... THANK YOU! It's great to see people appreciate them enough to actually use them to represent themselves online. (Just remember, no direct linking!)
I've also gotten around to re-saving all the Sailor Moon Widescreen Wallpapers. Some of you may remember that when I first uploaded this layout all the colours were quite dull due to how I was saving the images on my new imac. Same happened with these wallpapers! If you're using one of these I highly recommend re-saving the wallpaper onto your computer. You're guaranteed to find it much more vibrant and energetic. Sailor Moon Says!
Oooh, and now onto the Roundup!
With the 20th Anniversary DVDs on their way some posters have started appearing in stores in Japan advertising them. This post over at the genvid forums has an image of one. Personally I haven't seen any of them yet, but I'll keep you posted when I do!
Sorry for the later than usual news roundup this week! As followers of my Twitter account will know, life just got in the way this week and I was simply too exhausted to compose the Roundup post which requires a lot of energy and time.
Kind of a good thing I waited though, as this morning there's some HUGE Sailor Moon news from Japan! Let's get right into it!
This post over on the Genvid forums alerted everyone to the fantastic news that there will be some new Sailor Moon DVD releases in Japan!
The first DVD Box Set contains episodes 1 - 24 from the first season and is due for release this year in December! (Just in time for Christmas!)
Just yesterday I uploaded heaps of new Sailor Moon avatars (or icons). Almost over 100! You can find the new anime ones here and here as well as some cool manga inspired ones here. These are perfect for Twitter or discussion forums! Just don't place them on your own site! ;)
Some other big news this past week which I posted ASAP on Twitter was the closing down of ADV who was involved in the release of several Sailor Moon VHS and DVDs. Guess we can now completely rule them out of any Sailor Moon rerelease!
Finally, the Sailor Stars Dub has another fantastic preview online that looks (as usual) REALLY GOOD! Someone hire these guys to do the official Stars dub!
And now to finish on a funny note, I present this week's Moonie Music Monday Sailor Moon music video! LOL!
Finished cleaning up the Sailor Moon Wallpapers pages. A lot less scrolling now and easier navigation with added menus at the top and bottom.
Also cleaned up the Sailor Moon Icons by splitting them up into separate pages for less scrolling, faster loading and a better overall experience. Added menus at the top and bottom of each page here as well.
Completely revamped the Site History / Layout Archive with a new design I'm very happy with. Several different "eras" now to make navigation easier than having everything on one page like it was before. Travel back in time and see what Moonkitty.net was like in years gone by! Also finally added info about the previous layout and the new one that you see right now!
Moved the DVD Spotlight up under the Episode Spotlight. Looks heaps better now.
Also in case you missed the edited update in the previous post, I've updated the Gifts & Rewards page. Thank you everyone who's given me a gift! If I've somehow excluded a gift you gave me please send it to me again! I'm just really bad keeping my inbox cleaned and up to date.
Will try finish some new features for Friday and will definitely be updating the Links page which has been cleaned up slightly but a lot of new links need to be added.
Some cool miscellaneous Sailor Moon info for the Sailor Moon Roundup on Friday as well.
Also, once more I want to say hello to all the Twitterers! Can't believe Moonkitty.net is up to 81 followers just after a week or so after the account activated! Love all you Sailor Moon fans who have found me. Maybe some Sailor Moon Twitter backgrounds are in order! ;)
Continuing with the site renewal I've cleaned up and restyled the downloads & media section. All pages within now sport a uniform blue colour theme (just like the link at the top of the page!) and have been updated with relevant text and cleaner spacing!
As an extra bonus I've uploaded almost 100 new icons to the musical and anime icons with quite a few new characters being used this time around.
While on the topic of avatars I've been having (as have many other Sailor Moon sites since time began) a few issues lately with people hotlinking (or directlinking) to my icons despite the obvious requests not to on the pages. Because this costs me money I'm implemented a complete ban on hotlinking via htaccess. Found a great page here: http://altlab.com/htaccess_tutorial.html that explained how to do it. Literally took 3 minutes to set up.
Basically what will happen now is that if you view any files from Moonkitty.net via another site you'll be shown a wonderful icon with Moonkitty.net's name on it. If you're subscribed to the site feed this means that the icon used with each update will be the same one but when you view the site and go to the actual post on the Moonkitty.net servers you'll see the icon chosen. In short, no need to worry. ;) It'll only really affect the people who are hotlinking to my files.
I know a few weeks ago I mentioned my personal account but since then and because of the site redesign I've decided to create an account exclusive for Moonkitty.net updates.
So if you want to follow my personal tweets (which still contain elements of Sailor Moon) feel free to follow this account and if you want to be notified of site updates as they happen and maybe some site exclusive tweets follow this one.
You can of course (and it would be great if you did!) follow both.
I was getting rather bored of using the same avatars lately so I created a whole new batch of live action Sailor Moon avatars using the menus from the live action DVDs!
On a fandom note, a friend of mine just got our tickets for a new Japanese movie, Heat Island which features not only the live action Sailor Moon's Sailor Mars, Keiko Kitagawa but also the Sailor Moon musicals' Tuxedo Mask, Yu Shirota!

I'm on a roll! Just completed the DVD review for the fifth live action Sailor Moon DVD which can be reviewed HERE.
As usual I also completed the episode guides for the episodes on the disk, Act 17, Act 18, Act 19 and Act 20.
Will be working on all of the guides for the new attacks introduced in these episode tomorrow night so please ignore the broken attack links in the guides. They won't be broken for long!

Woo Hoo! Just completed the guide to the fan favourite Sailor Moon anime episode, A Crystal Clear Destiny! Had so much fun rewatching this famous episode! Hope you like the summary and screencaps!

I just stumbled across this great new site called MyBlogLog which allows you to keep track of the sites you visit and also form super simple communities for those that you own. It's such an innovative idea and thought it would be a great way for you guys to get in touch with me by posting a message on the board and even see what each of us look like. Of course you can always use some of our icons in Moonkitty.NET's icon & avatar page as a photo of yourself if you'd rather protect your identity.
What's really cool is that there is a "Recent Readers" widget (that I've enabled on the right side menu) that will actually show you guys (if you've signed up) who's been on Moonkitty.NET the most recently!
I'm so into this right now. Hope you guys will join me and help make Moonkitty.NET's community the largest online!

Those few of you who have widescreen monitors or PSPs will be happy to know I've created several widescreen high res wallpapers in the new Widescreen Wallpapers page.
Being a little graphic crazy last night I also created several Sailor Moon Musical (Sera Myu) themed icons/avatars for your enjoyment. Some of them may look like doubles... but they're not. I made subtle border colour changes on a few.
Hope you guys like them!

Musical icons are on their way and am thinking about making widescreen wallpapers but judging from my counter noone with a widescreen monitor visits Moonkitty.NET. If you have a widescreen monitor and would like some Sailor Moon wallpapers for it, let me know and I'll make some. Otherwise I might just stick to the old fashioned square monitor wallpapers.
Just updated the Christmas Special section which you can get to via the main menu on the right. Remember you have to allow popups from Moonkitty.NET for it to work as it pops up in a little window of it's own.
Anyway, added a new Christmas themed Sailor Moon wallpaper for your christmas joy as well as two cute icons for you LiveJournalers and chatters.
Speaking of icons, I made several more and put them in the new Icons Page. Use as much as you like. Just don't post them on your website and claim them as your own. ;)
