Hello and welcome to Moonkitty.net, a Sailor Moon fansite dedicated to all incarnations of the series from the manga and anime to the musicals and live action tv series!
The Sailor Moon anime is back in Italy (check out this video) and they've been given the remastered picture! This is looking pretty good for any possible English release getting the new masters as well though it would be hard to use them in the first two seasons as with the edits made and the cool 3D transitions (which I loved!) the audio wouldn't be able to be used with them. S and SuperS though could easily be rereleased with the English dub and new picture quality. Something to think about.
I will be switching the blog posts on Moonkitty.net from Blogger to Wordpress this week so if you're looking at the posts you may see some layout glitches or possibly some broken links. ALL of the posts will be converted so nothing will be lost though it's possible the URL (web address) of some of the posts will change.
Just a heads up.
Once the conversion is complete, making comments should be a lot easier and faster. Any non-blog-post page on Moonkitty.net shouldn't be affected at all. Fingers crossed the transition happens smoothly!!!
Realised my review for the second Japanese DVD Box Set didn't upload properly so just fixed it and uploaded it here.
I know I few of you have been asking for it so hope you find it useful and enjoy the screencaps and photos (I really need to get a digital camera).
In other site news I'm happy to announce my affiliation with ReiHino.net!
Speaking of affiliation I've completely rewritten the Affiliate Application Info Page to be more specific. Plus I added a cute image of a Luna plush! ;)
I have been flat out with work and am in the middle of a 14 day work marathon so have postponed announcing the winner of the PGSM CD + Book competition until around the 18th. I want to do something special for the announcement and just don't have the time right now to do that. Hope you understand!
The massive international TV channel, Animax sure has been a huge supporter of the Sailor Moon anime recently.
They were the first channel in Japan let alone the world to begin screening the anime after the rights were released (well, relaxed and made open to negotiation anyway) and have done a pretty good job of promoting Sailor Moon in it's Japanese channel's commercials.
Recently Animax has been featuring the Japanese voice actress for Sailor Moon, Kotono Mitsuishi as well as two of the directors of the anime in a show called Creators.
You can see clips of this show on YouTube. Nothing really big to report but they do go into the usual conversation about what it was like in the beginning making the show and how it grew in popularity.
It isn't subbed in English but you can fairly easily get the gist of what they're saying.
For those that don't know what Animax is, it's basically a cable channel that focuses on airing almost entirely anime though also airs random shows like Wipeout. In the past few years it's grown more and more and expanded throughout Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Latin America, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and more! This channel is huge and screens retro animes like Slayers for example but also the latest newest anime like Bleach, Inuyasha and Idaten Jump.
Currently only the Japanese Animax channel shows Sailor Moon but since it has got the license it seems to be a very good idea to keep our eyes on local Animax channels for any future Sailor Moon airing opportunities.
Will keep you posted if I hear anything else!
p.s. Stay tuned this weekend for a combo Roundup and Moonie Music Monday as well as some extra info on some sections and... the winner to the Twitter competition!
Real life has really gotten in the way of my site plans recently and for that I really apologise.
I've been working full time six days a week and any free time I've had has been spent applying and interviewing for new jobs which hopefully will start next month.
For the next two weeks it's really going to hit the fan as one of the companies I work for will be making everyone work on the next two Sundays which means.... 14 days straight of work! Yay! I'll still be updating with any interesting and amazing Sailor Moon news and of course will try my hardest to post the Roundups and Moonie Music Mondays but will most likely combine the two features until late March when my time will free up more.
Now funnily enough, one of the job interviews I went to on Friday just happened to be literally across the road from the Hikawa Jinja that was the inspiration for Sailor Mars' shrine in the manga (different temples were used for the anime and live action versions)! I'd been here once before with Jay from Genvid but that was three or so years ago and I hadn't been since.
Out of curiosity I decided to check out the wish tags and see if there were any Sailor Moon fans who had visited the shrine recently. I didn't really expect to see anything Sailor Moon related but right on the top row were two tags with some amazing Sailor Moon artwork and messages in Japanese that basically read (I will punish you!). Here's the photo I took on my phone of them!
Pretty cool that Sailor Moon fans still visit the shrine on a regular basis!
Now here's your Sailor Moon music video spotlight! In kind of a musical mood right now so thought I would feature one of my favourite songs from the musicals featuring Yu Shirota and Marina, New Moonlight Romance.
I really hope the musicals come back for the 20th anniversary!
Now for the roundup! (busy! busy!)
There's a cool new Italian Sailor Moon poster here.
And finally all the new Sailor Moon CDs seem to be keeping all the same covers of the originals meaning they're just regular rereleases but still a Sailor Moon product release nevertheless. I will be picking up a few as they are pretty cheap and the only Sailor Moon CDs I have are musical, PGSM or NA Dub.
In site news I have updated the Sailor Moon Channel Layout Archive with February's layout. I'll also be getting around to regular site emails and tweets sometime this week I hope (if I have time). Keep sending in Moonie Mailbag questions! I WILL answer them whenever I get the chance. If you haven't been answered yet, don't worry! You WILL be!
That's about it for now! Comment below, follow on Twitter and have a great week!
As you can probably tell I've been doing some more fiddling with the site's layout. I asked all you awesome people who follow MKNET on Twitter what they liked and didn't like concerning the side nav and pretty much everyone agreed getting rid of the Interviews banner was the way to go. Opinions on the DVD info was split 50/50 so I shrank the amount of space it took up but kept the links there as I've been getting a lot of emails and tweets telling me how useful people find them.
I also added some social bookmarking icons to the top part of the site and am curious which ones people actually use. I'm definitely keeping StumbleUpon but am unsure how popular the others are. Please comment below and let me know what you personally do or don't use. Less is more I always say! ;)
While cleaning up the site I also shrank the Donators section and created a whole new page for all that jazz. Thanks again to everyone that's donated so far! Every little bit helps and is muchly appreciated!
Now onto the news!
Just yesterday I was walking through Kinokuniya in Shinjuku and saw the pamphlet for the new Sailor Moon DVDs on the wall as well as the larger shiny metalic poster behind the counter.
Was really surprised as this is the first time I'd seen any Sailor Moon advertising for the new Sailor Moon DVDs at all.
Someone on the staff must be a Moonie because as I kept walking through the manga section I saw all the Sailor Moon manga out in prime position right near the entrance!
The little sign simply talks about how this is the manga the anime was based on, it being the whole series and also mentions the side stories.
Very nice to see!
Elsewhere on the Moonie web:
Three-Lights.net has just updated with what has to be one of my favourite Sailor Moon layouts of all time!!! SUCH AN AMAZING LAYOUT GUYS!!! Check it out!
Dreaming Moon has some cool scans worth checking out.
There's a brand new Sailor Moon site online that's focusing on the show's relaunch in Italy, SailorMoonWorld.it! They've got a really fresh layout and some great information on the show in Italy as well as peaks at the brand new Sailor Moon artwork that's been created for the show there. I love this site so much I've just affiliated with it! Check it out guys!
A pretty exciting week for Sailor Moon (but then isn't every week?).
Sailor Moon was featured on the American version of Jeopardy in an anime category and;
the Fighter4Luv DiC style fandub of Sailor Stars has a new official site, StarsFanDub.com and I simply love the layout! Make sure to check out the Sailor Galaxia skin as well!
Chibiland (still celebrating it's 7th Anniversary!) has been really churning out those adoptable Chibi Dolls! Check out the latest additions!
BSSMLA is getting ready for a new Sailor Moon panel at Otakon this year!
Tsuki Mubi's music video contest is still running! Make sure to get your videos in!

I was getting rather bored of using the same avatars lately so I created a whole new batch of live action Sailor Moon avatars using the menus from the live action DVDs!
On a fandom note, a friend of mine just got our tickets for a new Japanese movie, Heat Island which features not only the live action Sailor Moon's Sailor Mars, Keiko Kitagawa but also the Sailor Moon musicals' Tuxedo Mask, Yu Shirota!
Can't wait for it!

Quite a few news items this week! I'm always amazed at how active the Sailor Moon online community is!
First up the always classic, SailorMoon.org has updated with the May Moon Grams. Check it out HERE. Some great content well worth your time!
The huge Sailor Moon website directory, Deep Submerge has added several more sites and updated with a new Site of the Month! Who is it? Check it out and see for yourself.
Genvid has some interesting present day Sailor Moon sightings from people like myself living in Japan.
Another Japanese artist has released a CD with a remix of the Sailor Moon anime song, Otem no Policy HERE.
A kind of oldie. The producer of the Filipino Sailor Moon rip-off has released a comment about the visual resemblance HERE.
“If you find similarities, it is outright coincidental."
Yeah, right. Who's he trying to kid?!?
And now a true treasure I found on YouTube! Footage from Agro's Cartoon Connection that originally aired Sailor Moon in the early 90s in Australia! They had a special Sailor Moon morning where the hosts dressed up in Sailor Moon costumes. Enjoy! Good times. Good times.
Got a wonderful news story sent to me from Moonkitty.NET reader, MegaSonic55 via email. Turns out Sailor Moon has made it's place in Toonami history over at Toonami Inner Circle in a special The 10 Greatest Moments of Toonami feature. The premier of the third anime season, Sailor Moon S came in at number seven:
The initial run of Sailor Moon in the United States left us hanging for more. It wasn't until 1998 when viewers saw the final half of the Sailor Moon R, which was, until then, a Canadian exclusive for years. The series ended with the pretty soldiers looking back at how much their lives have changed when they learned they were protectors of the Moon Kingdom and Serena learning of her lineage as the Moon Princess. The last moments showed a pair of warriors in silhouette as well as a nightmare Rei keeps on having that predicted what's to come. Naturally, this was a teaser for the Sailor Moon S season. However, production had stopped on Sailor Moon years before the dubbed episode premiered in the US, so Sailor Moon S was lost in the annals of space. Well, nobody licensed them here in the states.
Cloverway, Toei Animation's former US-based subsidary before they officially opened an American office in Los Angeles, produced the new season in Canada and premiered it in the summer of 2000.
The end result was one of the best produced season of Sailor Moon ever. Sailor Moon S proved what that the longtime fans of Sailor Moon had been trying to tell everyone. Sailor Moon is actually a great show! This season had it all. Action, comedy, drama, romance, and a plot that guys and gals could enjoy. Like Gundam Wing, which premiered on Toonami the same year, it was one of those shows that brought in both of the sexes. Sailor Moon S stood out as one of the crowning moments in Toonami history.
Pretty cool, no?
In other news, Jared from Genvid has posted about his experience at the Tokyo Anime Fair and has found out that people with a Japanese credit card can download certain anime series including Sailor Moon from iTunes! Apparently the first episodes are free.
And finally some sad news. You know that Nintendo Wii game that was reported last week? Well.... YesAsia has removed the link to it from their website. Maybe it's not happening afterall... or they could have been told to remove it until it's officially announced. We just don't know at this stage.

Mercurius on the Genvid forums stumbled across this interesting Sailor Moon sighting, a Sailor Moon themed hotel room in Santa Fe! Sunday - Thursday :: $219 per night, Friday, Saturday, Holidays, & High Season :: $269 per night, Additional Guests :: $40 per person per night, Rates are for single or double occupancy. High season is May 11-October 14. Bizarre right?
In other, more official news, the official site has uploaded and animated a new chapter of the manga. Only in Japanese though.
In site news, I'm seriously expecting to have finished the Sailor Moon anime first season guide by the end of this month. Seriously. Look forward to it! Expect several attack guides to be added as well.
To finish off, I thought I'd share a hillarious parody of the live action Sailor Moon show here. Brilliant.

I just realised that this is the 302nd post since Moonkitty.NET started using Blogger technology in 2004! Cool, huh?
Anyway, on to the Roundup.
This week was pretty big with the news that Sailor Moon Movie might still be coming soon, though everyone seems to think (and with good reason) that this is just a rumour. [scroll down for the full article]
I stumbled across some very rare Sailor Moon footage that I'd never seen before, taken from the old Sega Saturn game posted HERE. Pretty cool, just when you think you've seen it all! The Outers in the SuperS anime season though in the Sailor Stars anime style.
The Genvid forums have a very full on discussion going on HERE about your favourite keyframe animator on the Sailor Moon anime. My fandom isn't to the point where I know the animators' names, but if you're is you should check the discussion out.
On a Sailor Moon Musical high last weekend I stumbled across this very rare clip of the Inner singers singing a hit JPop song on a Japanese TV show. You will have this song in your head for the rest of the week after watching this.

About two years ago I saw the second last Sailor Moon Musical (I also saw the last) and took this video after the event of all the little kids in their Sailor Moon cosplay outfits. It's taken me long enough but here it is! The first (as far as I know) video from a Sailor Moon Musical!
Genvid has an interesting front page article about people in Japan still seeing Sailor Moon intoday's Japan, even though the series basically isn't widely popular (still has loyal fans but is considered an old series by most).
Well worth a look if you're coming to Japan. Myself, I see Sailor Moon occasionally but refrained from posting about my experiences as I thought they might be spam. What do you guys think? Should I post about my Sailor Moon sightings?
