Well it's been a very big week. Got some bad news but to counteract that a lot of good news too!

Let's get the bad news out of the way first so we can end on a good note.

Turns out the person that was impersonating Sarah Lafluer (Sailor Ueranus) was also impersonating Linda Ballantyne (Sailor Moon #3). Pretty shocking, maddening and depressing. This person had even started up a personal blog pretending to be Linda and was posting personal photos, etc. I'm glad I wasn't the only one fooled. Her Twitter account has been deleted and legal action has been taken.

I would like to remind everyone that impersonating celebrities is not cool. It hurts the person you're impersonating and also hurts the fans. If you are using a Sailor Moon voice actor, actor, singer, etc's name for your username on any site please change it. Even if you're convinced that you're doing it for the star, it's illegal, is a crime, hurts the person you're impersonating and also confuses fans and websites alike.

Now on to the good news!!!

Toei is officially selling the rights to Sailor Moon! This is a HUGE step in getting Sailor Moon back to English speaking countries! Whether you want a redub, a resub, a remastered rerelease of the existing dub or all of the above (like me!) this is very good news. Here's hoping someone buys it!

Speaking of Sailor Moon being rereleased around the world, SailorMoonWorld.it reports that a German magazine mentioned that German companies are now after the rights to rerelease the series on DVD in Germany. Great news for German fans (which I know there are a few of who read Moonkitty.net!).

I know this isn't Sailor Moon but like it or not comparisons are going to be made. Also while I'm not making any promises, if this Dragonball Movie kicks arse in the box office, it would make a lot of sense for film houses, producers and directors to start looking at a Sailor Moon film given that it's fanbase is so massive and of a similar genre (anime to live action).

Here's the Japanese Trailer that was leaked earlier today. It's the first official trailer released anywhere and gives a pretty good idea of what the film will look like. Kind of reminds me of the original Mortal Kombat film from the 90s.

Wow! I just realised I completely forgot a Moonie Music Monday! Really sorry guys! My first ever Kids Yoga classes were on at 9:20am Monday morning in a studio over an hour away and I was just so nervous and excited about it I forgot about the update. I don't get home until 7:30pm Monday nights and once I got home I used my free time to eat dinner and prepare for my first Tuesday classes the next day which started at 8:45am!!! (Needless to say I was very tired on Wednesday!)

In case you're interested the classes went really well! Teaching Kids Yoga to kids 3 - 8yr old kids in Japan is so much fun and really rewarding!

To relate this more to Sailor Moon, during my teacher training each teacher had to do a "practice lesson" using a kids yoga lesson plan they wrote themselves. I based a whole class around Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart and it went off! Definitely will be reusing it in one of my real Kids Yoga classes in the near future. I always find using a topic that interests kids to teach them something (be it English or Yoga or something else) really maintains their attention and motivates them to learn. I've begun thinking about writing a Sailor Moon themed Kids Yoga lesson plan lately. The show's values definitely connect to the Yoga value system and the numerous aspects of nature and of course the obvious posing done by the characters makes it a very natural fit for a Yoga lesson theme.

When I write this lesson plan, I'll definitely post it here for people to use. Are there many teachers, Yogis or parents who read Moonkitty.NET who would be interested in Sailor Moon Yoga lesson plans? Comment on this post if you would like to see this kind of content.

Sailor Moon Obsession continues to rock with frequent content.

Several old school animes coming to film soon have been rather active though still no news of a Live Action Sailor Moon Film. The first teaser for the upcoming CG version of Astro Boy has been released and looks pretty cool. Would you like to see a CG Sailor Moon film? The same guys that made this Astro Boy film made that kick arse Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie. Something tells me they'd do a good job of Sailor Moon (April and Casey looked great!).

The Dragonball Movie is looking pretty cool and word is a He-Man movie, G-Force Movie and a Voltron movie are also in the works.

Of course there's the second Transformers Movie out next year which is probably my most anticipated film. Strangely enough, while I hated the DBZ anime (and I do mean hated) I'm actually really looking forward to the DB movie. Go figure.

While I'm on a retro kick, if you were born in the 80s you probably saw the Disney movie, Race to Witch Mountain. Well check out the trailer for the remake! Pretty kick arse!

The Deep Submerge Directory has updated with a new Site of the Month! Check it out to see which site it is! It's a classic site from years back that making a come back! BSSMLA has started updating again thanks to a new computer. Check out the report from Matsuricon! Genvid has once more translated the Official Sailor Moon Site's monthly update and letters column. Pretty interesting and well worth a look. I find it amazing how Japanese kids are still discovering the series years after it's finished. Still no updates on the Upcoming Sailor Moon Nintendo Wii Game due for release on December 31st this year. As soon as there's more news on it I'll post it asap! Rumours of the American live action Sailor Moon movie have quietened down completely lately. No more news on Lindsay Lohan or Joss Whedon. However there's been official word that the American live action Dragonball Z movie will begin production this year! I'm not really a fan of the series but if this movie does well, then the odds of a Sailor Moon one being made will increase! Since Transformers made so much money, a Robotech (Macross) movie is in the works as is a Voltron movie. It's a good time to be a retro anime fan! Like this site? I just realised that this is the 302nd post since Moonkitty.NET started using Blogger technology in 2004! Cool, huh?

Anyway, on to the Roundup.

This week was pretty big with the news that Sailor Moon Movie might still be coming soon, though everyone seems to think (and with good reason) that this is just a rumour. [scroll down for the full article]

I stumbled across some very rare Sailor Moon footage that I'd never seen before, taken from the old Sega Saturn game posted HERE. Pretty cool, just when you think you've seen it all! The Outers in the SuperS anime season though in the Sailor Stars anime style.

The Genvid forums have a very full on discussion going on HERE about your favourite keyframe animator on the Sailor Moon anime. My fandom isn't to the point where I know the animators' names, but if you're is you should check the discussion out.

On a Sailor Moon Musical high last weekend I stumbled across this very rare clip of the Inner singers singing a hit JPop song on a Japanese TV show. You will have this song in your head for the rest of the week after watching this.

This site has posted a rather interesting news story about the rumoured American Sailor Moon live action movie that was said to be directed by Joss Whedon that contains a LOT more information than previously reported.

Things worth mentioning are that they say an Access Hollywood reporter got this information from an inside source (maybe real?) and that Whedon has free time in his future to actually make the movie now that he's out of Wonder Woman (this makes me think though that if this was fake they're making all of this up over the WW news which is true).

Hey everyone, Ryan here with a scoop coming from ‘Stuart’ regarding Joss Whedon and a live-action SAILOR MOON film. Here is what ‘Stuart’ has to say:

Access Hollywood got the chance to talk with a Fox Studios worker in Century City, who revealed that one of the major movie studios is looking to quickly sign Joss Whedon as the director of the Sailor Moon live action movie, now that he is free from the Wonder Woman big screen adaptation. Also, a list of unconfirmed actresses attached to the movie that the studio has already contacted for main roles.

About a year ago, rumors said that Joss Whedon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) was attached to direct the live action version of the popular anime “Sailor Moon” after doing Wonder Woman.
Now that Whedon is off the WW project it’s likely that he will take on the Sailor Moon movie right away, or at least that’s what Fox wants.

When the Sailor Moon movie was reported last year, Lindsay Lohan and Jennifer Garner were both set to play starring roles, but both now dropped out. This time new casting announcements include; Maggie Grace, Julie Gonzalo, Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel, Danielle Panabaker, A.J. Cook, Rachel Blanchard, Mischa Barton, Deanna Casaluce, Amanda Righetti, Elisa Donovan and Emma Caulfield.

The plot will be a complete new story based on Naoko Takeuchi’s (Sailor Moon creator) unreleased material.
Whedon is also developing a horror movie called “Goner”.

Here is an unconfirmed list of actresses and the characters they are supposed to play:

Mischa Barton ————–Sailor Moon
Alexis Bledel ————— Sailor Mercury
Julie Gonzalo ————– Sailor Venus
Amber Tamblyn ————Sailor Jupiter
Deanna Casaluce ——— Sailor Mars

A.J. Cook, Elisa Donovan, Amanda Righetti, Emma Caulfield and Rachel Blanchard would play the main villains.

I find it odd that so many actresses are already attached to roles this early on. All of that info can be assumed to be... assumed. That big about the story being based on unpublished stories from Naoko Takeuchi is interesting (first I've heard of that) but as far as I know there are no unpublished stories of hers. Perhaps they mean manga plots not used in the anime?

Take from this what you will. Personally I find it great that at least people are talking about a movie.
