Hello and welcome to Moonkitty.net, a Sailor Moon fansite dedicated to all incarnations of the series from the manga and anime to the musicals and live action tv series! ~ Your Fellow Moonie, Brad
Find the Sailor Moon information or media you're after with this site search. Remember you can browse the site via the links above.
From what I can see they all appear to be rereleases of old Sailor Moon CDs that have long been out of print. Basically the soundtracks for each season and one or two song collection CDs. It's unknown if there will be anything new with these releases such as new cover art but I'm sure all that will be revealed in due time.
This is pretty cool as it shows that the Powers That Be in Japan think that there is still a market for Sailor Moon merchandise.
Personally I think it would be nice if any webmasters reading this took down the mp3s for these CDs from their sites to help support their sales and encourage even more Sailor Moon merchandise from Japan (like new artbooks, musical DVDs or even a new anime!) With these CDs back in print and them being so affordable (only ï¿¥2625 each!) there really is no need to offer mp3s of these CDs anymore. What do you think?
Also in Sailor Moon news in these last 24 hours, this site has some cool news about Sailor Moon's rerelease in Italy and shows a new logo! Personally I love it, especially the star on the "i". A wonderful fan is translating this page for me but from what I can tell is says that they'll be reairing all the movies and episodes and releasing more merchandise. Basically confirming what was reported a few months ago.
While I'm typing, I may as well get a head start on tomorrow's Sailor Moon Roundup!
Yesterday I finally uploaded some screencaps of the new DVD Boxes! You can see images of the DVD menus here and if you want to compare image quality over the three separate Sailor Moon DVD releases you can check out this Mailbag question that has been updated!
Happy Friday! Hope you've had a good week and are getting all your Christmas shopping done!
The biggest Sailor Moon news this week is the release of the first Sailor Moon DVD box. It's been selling really well according to this chart (though I'm not sure the actual rank) and has flown off shelves here in Japan with a lot of stores already being out of stock! Even Amazon has sold all of their reserves in just a few days! Don't worry if you've placed an order though, the boxes won't go out of print until December 2011 and all stores should be getting new stock soon.
Luckily I pre-ordered mine and got it as soon as it was released. If you haven't already you should check out my review of the box which includes photos of the slip, case, disks and extras. Will be adding screencaps and a screenshot comparison between the different releases tomorrow so check back soon!
This week I also updated the Sailor Moon Channel Archive with December's layout. I wonder if this will be the last update for 2009! Looking forward to creating a new page for the 2010 layout! :D
In other site news Moonkitty.net's reached 1000 followers on Twitter! Thank you to all my followers for following thus far and if you haven't followed yet, come on over and join the party! I'll be throwing a competition for a PGSM CD / Book Set in the New Year that will be held entirely on Twitter so you better get in early to be eligible!
Speaking of Twitter, a BIG MOONIE THANK YOU to Dakota who made a donation this month! At this time of year, any support is appreciated so thank you so much for helping me out! **hugs**
As holidays are approaching, expect more updates in the near future such as new wallpapers, icons and some bigger developments in the Sailor Stars Episode Guide! The latest poll also suggests that you guys want some Sailor Moon Character Information too so you can expect Moonkitty.net's Character Guide to premiere sometime in the New Year after the Episode Guides are finished (and they almost are!). I'll also be answering as many Moonie Mailbag questions as time permits tomorrow as well.
Special Sailor Moon Voice Actress Event in Japan! Sailor Moon Roundup
Halloween's almost here! Luckily Moon Sticks has a special Halloween special strip online! Funny as always!
And now some pretty HUGE news! The official Sailor Moon 20th Anniversary site has updated with something fantastic! Apparently on the 6th of December all five Japanese Sailor Moon voice actresses will be appearing for a special event celebrating the manga's 20th anniversary in 2011! (Just a bit early, but hey, who cares!)
Wait, it gets better though! Toei is giving away 20 tickets to the event to 20 random fans who buy the first 20th Anniversary Box Set through their Toei site before November 3rd! I was going to buy my box set through Amazon.co.jp but looks like I may just order it through Toei (just for this first box though).
If you're living outside of Japan, I wouldn't recommend buying it directly from Toei as it's a LOT more expensive than Amazon.co.jp.
Wild Speculation #1 It's interesting that they mention the manga anniversary. Could this mean a reprint of the manga?
Wild Speculation #2 All five actresses reuniting is pretty huge. Normally this kind of thing happens when new animes are announced. It could simply be to promote the DVDs but December is normally the time of year in Japan when new animes are announced. Could they announce a new Sailor Moon anime or maybe a Dragonball Kai like remake? Fingers crossed!
In other news:
Speaking of Inner Sailors reuniting, the five main actresses from Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon have also reunited recently, though socially and Izumirika.com and Ayaka502.net have the photos and info!
Snowdrop has added some fantastic spirites to her already beautiful collection! There's even a "Sailor Halloween"!
After some energy gathering on Twitter I've gathered enough willpower to update the site and post this week's Sailor Moon Roundup.
I may have the flu, but that won't keep me down for long (sure kept me down yesterday though!)
First up you've probably noticed the new image and links to the left of this post (if you're reading this on the site that is). Thought it was needed as the 20th Anniversary Announcement happened a while ago and I don't want Moonies forgetting about it! It'll also make it easy for people looking for the official site link and links to where to buy the new Sailor Moon Box Sets online. (Amazon.jp is my No.1 choice in case you were wondering where I'm getting mine from)
Next I've created over 50 new Sailor Moon anime avatars / icons for your use. I've seen a few people using my icons in forums recently and... THANK YOU! It's great to see people appreciate them enough to actually use them to represent themselves online. (Just remember, no direct linking!)
I've also gotten around to re-saving all the Sailor Moon Widescreen Wallpapers. Some of you may remember that when I first uploaded this layout all the colours were quite dull due to how I was saving the images on my new imac. Same happened with these wallpapers! If you're using one of these I highly recommend re-saving the wallpaper onto your computer. You're guaranteed to find it much more vibrant and energetic. Sailor Moon Says!
Oooh, and now onto the Roundup!
With the 20th Anniversary DVDs on their way some posters have started appearing in stores in Japan advertising them. This post over at the genvid forums has an image of one. Personally I haven't seen any of them yet, but I'll keep you posted when I do!
HUGE WEEK IN SAILOR MOON NEWS! Toei has started celebrating Sailor Moon's 20th Anniversary and has announced brand new season DVD box sets for every season of the Sailor Moon anime! You can read more about this huge event in my original news post but if you just want to cut right to it and pre-order your limited edition box sets you can get the first box here and the second box here. Amazon.co.jp is offering a huge 26% OFF for pre-orders on these boxes so they're well worth a look. Personally I pre-ordered mine yesterday from them.
Something else that's got me hyped is this preview of the Sailor Stars fan dub! It's a perfect example of why I think the DiC music cues work better (as much as I love the Japanese music). Can't wait for this fourth episode.
It's Friday again so that means Moon Sticks has a new strip online! This week features two of my favourite characters Alan and Anne (Ail and Anne)!
I was surfing around YouTube and found this fantastic clip someone made that mixes the voices from the English version of Sailor Moon S but adds the DiC music cues from the first two seasons and OMG it works really well! Again I love the Japanese music but the DiC music just makes it seem so much more exciting! Someone who commented on the video made an interesting point that thet DiC music cue works with the English voice actors and the Japanese music cues work better with the Japanese VAs. What do you think?
And speaking of fan edits! Check out this new preview for a fan project that mixes existing anime footage extremely well to make a brand new storyline! Looks very promising!
That's about it for the Roundup this week! Because Sailor Moon news in general is heating up though I will be posting any news as it's released, ASAP so you might get posts mid week, etc that are of huge importance!
If you haven't already I highly recommend subscribing to the site feed or following me on Twitter to get the latest Sailor Moon news as it's released.
It's amazing what happens in a few hours! When I posted this morning about the new DVDs, Toei's main website (which included the official Sailor Moon Channel site) was down for maintenance.
Well it's back online now and while nothing major has happened on the Sailor Moon Channel or Toei's main page something HUGE has happened for Sailor Moon!!!
Toei has started Sailor Moon's 20th Anniversary!!!
They've created a new special 20th Anniversary website that not only has the release dates for all the new DVD box sets but also features all the cover art as well!!!
The official dates for Sailor Moon's 20th Anniversary are February 2012 for the manga and the 7th of March 2012 for the anime.
The release of the DVD Boxes are spaced out really well, with one being released every month or so throughout 2010. Here's the release schedule:
The descriptions say the episodes have been remastered though the previous Region 2 releases were also remastered. Not sure if it'll be a different image or not but I'll definitely be buying these and will be doing comparisons once I get my copy!
The price is also extremely cheap for a Japanese DVD box set with them ranging from 9400 yen to 12,000 yen per box. Some Japanese box sets sell for about 40,000 yen so this is a really pleasant surprise especially considering the individual DVDs previously released cost about 4,000 yen and had 6 episodes per disk.
Each box features half a season's episodes and comes with a slip case (left image on site) which holds the multi-disk case (right image on site).
Interestingly enough, or maybe just a coincidence, the slip cases look awfully similar to the live action's Moon Light Real Girl CD Box Set.
Speaking of which, no word on the live action's re-release though it does celebrate it's 10th Anniversary in 2013 along with the Sailor Moon musicals who turn 20 in that year. Also no word yet on a manga re-release in Japan or elsewhere though personally I think it's only a matter of time.
This is a very exciting time for Sailor Moon fans and I can't wait to see what else we have in store!
An enemy from the Silver Millenium has finally made her way back to Earth! Will she succeed in her plan to freeze the entire world or can Sailor Moon and the others stop her? Find out in the second Sailor Moon movie!
