Sailor MoonJapanese Opening Credits 2
The second opening for the Sailor Moon anime is almost identical to the first opening with the exception of a few shots that were updated or altered slightly.
     
The first is the shot of the masked man. While in the first version his cape featured black and white static, in this one it has a much more colourful pink and blue starry sky. This wasn't the only thing changed in the shot. When you look closer you realise that the entire animation in this shot was redrawn.
     
The second, and most obvious change is the reveal of Sailor Mercury and Mars in the silk scarf scene. This is a rather puzzling reveal for several reasons. First, the characters were already revealed in the first version in plenty of other shots so planning a reveal episodes later seems a bit bizarre. Secondly, neither character appears in the Japanese 6th episode suggesting this was less about a reveal and more about updating the animation for stylistic reasons.   
Whatever the reason, the change seems to have been worth it as both updated shots were chosen to be used in the English Opening Credits.
