Greetings everyone! So sorry I'm behind in the postings. Please excuse my delays. But weather has not been kind as of late, and neither has my laptop. Good news is, it's all fixed, and because of the delay, I'm going to do a SPECIAL review as well, immediately following this one. ;) So, without further a-do, here's the "PGSM Princess Moon Harp/Sword".
What it looks like: Here we have a cute little number from our wonderful people at BANDAI. The box is of course, pink, for our dear Usagi, as littered with gorgeous pictures of her as Princess Moon. The box itself is quite slender, contrary to what one might think about this item. Upon looking at the piece itself, it looks really awesome. Although it's likely meant for the smaller audience, the Princess Moon Harp/Sword is large enough to play with for older people. It's proportions however, would likely be best for that of a 5-8 year old child. Aside from that, the decor is almost exactly like the harp/sword in the show! Aside from the minor details to set it apart of course. As it comes, it's already in HARP mode, and the sword top is nicely packaged next to it. However, my only complaint with this, is that the sword top on the backside is littered with screws. If you're looking at it directly, it really does take away from the cuteness of this piece.
What it does: Much like in the show, this Harp/Sword can transform from Harp mode, to sword mode. All you have to do, is twist the top of the gem off, and pull. Then, flip the outer edges, push the bottom piece up, and VOILA! You have yourself a sword. Granted, the 'sword' portion is quite small for the large sides, in comparison to the show's version, but cute, ne'er the less. And, if it's the sounds you're looking for, look no further! Keeping with the tradition of the PGSM items, this TOO has two sounds. In harp mode, it has NIFTY little sensors within the harp area, where strings would likely be. Place your fingers in there, and play away. Unfortunately, there's really only one song, and, you only have to put your fingers in there once. But, keep those fingers moving, and all your friends will be amazed that you can play the Princess' harp song just like in the show! (Providing your friends are 5 year olds? ^.^;;) And in sword mode, just press the nifty button, and it plays the song from in.. the commercial. Okay, so it's not as nifty as the harps song, but, it still works. And, if lighting up really makes you go "ohhhhh ahhhhh" you'll love the hearts 3 light action. Which, just basically.. lights up all 3 lights.
Fun Factor: Alright, so it's fun factor is a 7 out of 10. But, just barely. Though it's really neat to have something like this from the show, and it does look VERY similar to the real deal, it really doesn't have much going for it. Aside from harp mode, the sword mode more so depresses the owner when played. Don't get me wrong, having this piece is an awesome addition. And the coloring is so vibrant, along with the beauty of it on it's own. If you're collecting Sailor Moon, or PGSM items, this isn't one to miss. Especially since this is the FIRST item from Sailor Moon that ISN'T a wand or Chalice! Sailor Moon actually has a SWORD.
You're likely looking at spending anywhere from $50-$100 or more on this item. It's become one of the rarer items to find, much like the other PGSM toys out there. It'd make a good cosplay addition, though proportionally lacking, and a beautiful collectable to add to the shelf.
Next Up: PGSM heart moon brooch.
